Religion is pervasive in traditional societies, as well as colonized societies. It just has become a reality with most peoples.

Personally, the reason I haven’t become an atheist, and will never be, is that I have personally felt a God in my life - even when I thought that I hadn’t a need for one anymore.

IN fact, it is also a problem here in the West, especially in Catholic countries. Many expressions are derived from religious terms such as ”Oh My God”, which I replaced by ”Oh My Darwin”!

Spot on Abhijit and I completely agree. And it’s certainly a hard thing to profess atheism, specially coming from a religious family in India.
